Jamie George is an artist and writer. He studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths College and MFA Sculpture at the Slade School of Fine Art. In 2013 he received a PhD from Cambridge School of Art. Jamie has worked on projects, commissions and exhibitions with: Outpost, Glasgow Sculpture Studios, South Kiosk, Jerwood Visual Arts, Drawing Room, SPACE Studios, Showroom, Wysing Arts Centre and Organhaus Gallery (China). In 2012 he was awarded a Gasworks International Fellowship and was artist-in-resident at Vasl Artist-Collective, Pakistan and 2014 was awarded a Cocheme Fellowship from Central Saint Martins, UAL, hosted by AIR Studios. He was recently awarded a Jerwood Visual Arts artist bursary to enable a moving-image and print project throughout 2018.
Artist Statement –– I work across media using print, moving-image and text. Considering the legacy of sculptural space, the works I produce are an accumulation of research, process and production and deal with ideas around intimacy, insufficiency, estrangement and loss.
